To ensure the tools we offer at EMBL-EBI are up to date and well maintained, we periodically review and retire certain services. We will be retiring the following tools in August 2015; several of these have alternatives detailed below.

Tools being retired in August 2015:

• ClustalW2 - We recommend users of ClustalW2 try Clustal Omega for protein alignments, and MAFFT or MUSCLE for DNA alignments.
• WU-BLAST - We recommend that WU-BLAST users migrate to our NCBI BLAST service.
• DbClustal - Non-anchored alignments can now be carried out from the result page of any sequence similarity search.
• MaxSprout
• DaliLite
• Readseq - We recommend Readseq users use the EMBOSS Seqret tool.
• CENSOR
