Release 2017_12 is our last release of the year comprising 102,804,649 proteins!

Our headline article for this release is "Swiss-Prot in the sky with psilocybin: the biosynthesis pathway of a psychedelic drug unveiled." In it, we talk about Psilocybin, magic mushrooms and updates to related entries in UniProtKB. 

With this release, UniProt is switching to HTTPS. To give users of web services time to transition to HTTPS, we will support separate HTTP and HTTPS services until June 20, 2018.
