Health and Safety

The Health and Safety Office is concerned with all work-related aspects of safety, in particular laboratory safety, at the headquarters in Heidelberg, and at the other EMBL sites with support from local colleagues.

Amongst its tasks are registration procedures, risk assessments, inspections of laboratories and workplaces, hazardous waste management and conducting safety training.

In order to provide safe and healthy working conditions to all EMBL staff and visitors, and to support them in carrying out their duties smoothly and safely, the team sets a high value on preventive measures. They oversee EMBL's medical service and provide for an extensive first aid structure.
