AI and machine learning in biology

Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms can be trained to learn how to perform a specific task. Once trained, they speed up data analysis so that it is feasible to process vastly more experimental data. These algorithms may also accurately and consistently find details that humans miss. AI algorithms can speedily analyse images in research labs but also assist doctors to spot and diagnose cancers.

Cancer

AI algorithms can identify cancers in diagnostic micrographs and scans more quickly, reliably and consistently than even experienced medical practitioners. Dermatologists can already use an app performing AI based image analysis to spot potential skin cancers, one of the cancers with the highest mortality rate.
