{"id":15,"date":"2020-10-15T10:26:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T10:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/scientific-visitor-programme\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2025-11-19T13:02:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T13:02:08","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/scientific-visitor-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<p class=\"vf-lede\">The Scientific Visitor Programme is part of the EMBL International Centre for Advanced Training (EICAT) with a mandate to facilitate short-term scientific stays of external visitors at EMBL across all career levels and deliver a comfortable and productive experience.<\/p>\n<!--\/vf-lede-->\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>EMBL is Europe\u2019s flagship laboratory for the life sciences with six research sites, and is a global hub for scientific exchange facilitated by its international scientific community, state-of-the-art core facilities, scientific courses and conferences.&nbsp; The Scientific Visitor Programme (SVP) is a part of EMBL\u2019s International Centre for Advanced Training\u2019s (EICAT) external arm with a remit to facilitate scientific exchange between EMBL and the external scientific community through a variety of measures outlined below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>liaison with Human Resources (HR) to assure contracts and visa (if necessary)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>co-design and delivery of dedicated fellowship schemes targeting external scientists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>logistics support in collaboration with HR, finance and relevant Unit administrators\/ Program Officers at all sites (reimbursements, housing, access cards, IT access etc)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>short guided visits to EMBL Heidelberg (subject to capacity and availability) for visitors of strategic relevance for EMBL and its member states<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to offering central fellowships targeting scientists not bound by a particular topic (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/scientific-visitor-programme\/fellowships\/corporate-partnership-programme-fellowships\/\">Corporate Partnership Programme fellowship<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/scientific-visitor-programme\/fellowships\/embl-sabbatical-visitor-fellowships\/\">Sabbatical Visitor fellowship<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/services-facilities\/boulin-fellowships\/\">Christian Boulin fellowship<\/a>), funded visits are possible and offered via special thematic fellowships linked to EMBL&#8217;s ongoing research programme in the areas of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/programme\/research-plans\/theory-at-embl\/\">Theory<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/programme\/research-plans\/infection-biology\/\">Infection Biology<\/a>. interest and first explore the possibility of a scientific visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note to visitors:<\/strong> Upon being accepted and registered as a visitor at any EMBL site and receiving IT
