A small number of programmes, e.g. TeachFirst in the UK, provide a fast-track option for graduates, and some private schools also do not require a full teaching degree. But for the vast majority of teaching positions in schools, you will require a formal qualification from a teacher training course.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"vf-tabs__section\" id=\"vf-tabs__section-2b831503-f499-4f03-ae98-402b00c99e2e\"><h2>Knowledge and skills<\/h2>\n<p>In our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/embl-fellows-career-service\/blog\/2022\/03\/skills-for-a-scientific-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">careers and skills survey<\/a>, 5 science educators told us about the competencies they used most often. (selected by 60%; and ranked as most important for success)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organization (selected by 60%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mentoring and leadership (selected by 60%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>self-management
