There is a growing recognition that a mechanistic understanding of complex cellular processes depends on structural insights into the macromolecules that drive them. Recent advances in cryo-electron microscopy and tomography, mass spectrometry\u2013based proteomics, fluorescence and super-resolution microscopy, protein structure prediction, and multiscale computational modelling have expanded the ability to study molecular structures within intact cells. While these technologies have independently generated valuable insights, a comprehensive understanding of molecular interactions and functions in their native environments requires systematic integration of complementary methods and data types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Started in 2020, and now in its fourth edition, this EMBO Workshop has established itself in a rapidly growing in situ structural biology community as the main platform to foster dialogue and collaboration amongst different communities (cryo\u2011EM\/ET, MS\u2011based proteomics, fluorescence and super\u2011resolution imaging, protein structure prediction, multi\u2011scale computational modelling, as well as new, emerging methods and tools). Alternatively, you can access the link on the confirmation page directly after registering. Recipients will be notified of their travel cap amount when they are informed of the outcome of their application. Receipts (and boarding passes for air travel) must be provided via email with your signature for all costs incurred within two months of completion of travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Childcare grant<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is the possibility to apply for a childcare grant to offset child care costs incurred by participants, speakers, and organisers when attending a conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible costs include (but are not limited to) fees for a baby-sitter or child-care facility, and travel costs for a caregiver. Please note that priority will be given to early stage researchers. You may apply for a childcare grant at the same time when submitting your abstract. There is a limited amount of funding available for the childcare grants and funds will be distributed amongst eligible applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EMBO accessibility grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For EMBO Workshop participants with accessibility needs, there is the possibility to apply for an accessibility grant to offset costs incurred by participants or speakers when participating at a conference. Eligible costs include costs incurred for equipment or adaptations to the conference environment, or travel costs for an event companion to assist the participant or speaker during the conference where necessary. While we do our best to accommodate needs, please note that extensive changes to the conference environment might not be possible. Priority will be given to early-stage researchers. A maximum amount of \u20ac500 can be awarded per participant applying for an EMBO accessibility grant. In order to apply for this grant for EMBO Workshops, you must be registered by the abstract submission deadline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On-site participants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may apply for financial assistance when submitting your abstract. It is a 8km or a 20 minute taxi ride away from EMBL. In a medical emergency, the ambulance service generally transports patients to this hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please remember to bring your own medication, if needed, to the conference. Note that the next pharmacy is a 4-minute drive from the EMBL, but for many medications you will be required to see a doctor to get a prescription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensure in advance that your medical insurance will cover you during your visit in the event that you do need to see a doctor while in Heidelberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EMBL course and conference office team are able to advise you on where to turn for emergency or non-emergency medical treatment in Heidelberg and can assist you in making appointments and \/ or arranging transport to get to the pharmacy or a doctor of your choice if necessary.
