If you are interested in receiving more information please register your interest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conference overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malaria remains a major global health burden and progress toward its control and elimination has been limited by growing drug resistance, the challenge of developing a highly effective and broadly active vaccine, reduced commitments to global public health, and political instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal of BioMalPar is to (1) highlight recent advances in basic and translational research into the biology of malaria parasites, their interactions with their mammalian host and mosquito vector, and the development of new interventions, (2) foster collaboration among researchers in these efforts, and (3) provide training and networking opportunities for participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, we can drive forward the innovations and strategies needed to reduce the terrible toll malaria takes. Alternatively, you can access the link on the confirmation page directly after registering. The same login credentials are used for both processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract selection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The selection process will take place with the results announced by email to all applicants \/ submitters. We aim to announce 3 weeks (21 days) after the abstract submission deadline but delays may occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to keep in mind when preparing the abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Abstract body: <\/strong>the limit of 2,000 characters refers to manually typed text and excludes spaces. If an error occurs try using a different web browser (preferably Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you copy-paste the text into the form, hidden formatting might still be included which may cause the text to exceed the 2,000 character limit resulting in an error message. We recommend you clear all formatting before pasting in the text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have special symbols in your text, make sure you are using Unicode characters, otherwise these will not be recognised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Title: <\/strong>the title should not exceed 20 words. Only the first word of the title should start with a capital letter and the rest should be lowercase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Authors and affiliations: <\/strong>fill in the author&#8217;s details as requested in the online form. The compulsory fields are: First Name, Last Name, Organisation Name (Affiliation or Company), Country, and Email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kindly mark only one author in the role of First Author and please don\u2019t forget to indicate who will be the Presenter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please enter your co-authors correctly via the system by adding accounts together with their organisation\/institute. Do not copy-paste them into the body of the abstract text, as they will not be indexed in the abstract book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Presentation types:<\/strong> when submitting your abstract, you can apply for an oral or poster presentation. A selection process will take place with the results announced 3 weeks after the abstract submission deadline (delays might occur).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For detailed instructions on how to submit a conference abstract, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NQAlq5iF5Qo&amp;feature=youtu.be\">follow the instructions provided in this video<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please check our<a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/course-and-conference-office\/information-for-participants\/frequently-asked-questions\/\">&nbsp;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/course-and-conference-office\/information-for-participants\/frequently-asked-questions\/#FAQ_abstractsubmission\">FAQs pages<\/a>&nbsp;for further information on how to submit an abstract.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details  class=\"vf-details\" id=\"\"  >\n<summary class=\"vf-details--summary\">\nFinancial assistance<\/summary>\n<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Financial assistance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Limited financial assistance is provided by the EMBL Advanced Training Centre Corporate Partnership Programme in the form of <strong>registration fee waivers<\/strong>, <strong>travel grants, and childcare grants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your place in the meeting is only confirmed by paying the registration fee, which is mandatory even when receiving a fee waiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration fee waiver<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>fee waiver<\/strong>&nbsp;will cover the registration sum that you have paid to attend the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel grant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>travel grant<\/strong> will cover the cost of travel to an on-site event (airfare, train, bus, taxi, accommodation, and visa) and is provided up to specified caps which are normally as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Up to \u20ac400 for participants travelling to an EMBL Conference from within Europe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Up to \u20ac1000 for participants travelling to an EMBL Conference from outside Europe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organisers may reduce the grant cap to accommodate more participants. Recipients will be notified of their travel cap amount when they are informed of the outcome of their application. Receipts must be provided via email with your signature for all costs incurred within two months of completion of travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Childcare grant<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is the possibility to apply for a childcare grant to offset child care costs incurred by participants, speakers, and organisers when attending a conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible costs include (but are not limited to) fees for a babysitter or childcare facility, and travel costs for a caregiver. Please note that priority will be given to early stage researchers. You may apply for a childcare grant at the same time when submitting your abstract. There is a limited amount of funding available for the childcare grants and funds will be distributed amongst eligible applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On-site participants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may apply for financial assistance when submitting your abstract. After finishing the registration you will receive an email with a link to apply for financial assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In your application you will be asked to answer questions regarding why your lab cannot fund your attendance and how your attendance will make a difference to your career.
