While the existence of membrane-less organelles \u2013 e.g. nucleoli, stress granules, and Cajal bodies \u2013 had been known for a long time, it was unclear until recently how these were formed, maintained, and regulated. Importantly, the interdisciplinary nature of the molecular and cellular principles that underlie condensate biology necessitates the combined expertise of cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, and soft matter physics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This interdisciplinary conference will bring together scientists from diverse fields to foster new discoveries and discuss emerging principles in condensate biology. Topics will range from basic biophysical principles of condensate formation to the role intracellular phase transitions play in cellular adaptation to the impact condensate dysregulation has on human disease. Our catering staff will prepare a variety of vegetarian meals, meat and fish dishes, soups, pasta, fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a variety of desserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please wear your badge at all times when serving yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"telephone\">Internet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wi-Fi is available on campus using the <strong>EMBL-Events<\/strong> network and the event specific password, which will be provided on site. The eduroam network (secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community) is also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Photography<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the conference, an EMBL Photographer may be taking photos. If you would not like to appear in these, please inform the photographer or a member of the Course and Conference Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"charginglockers\">Charging stations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lockers available next to the stairs leading down into the Auditorium. You will find some of those equipped with sockets to charge your smartphone\/tablet etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In most places the electricity is 220 volts AC (50 cycles). An adaptor and a plug that fits the German socket may be needed for your appliances\/laptop (i.e. American, Japanese, etc.). A USB charging station for electronic devices is available at the registration desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Printing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We can help to print your boarding pass\/train ticket. Please send it to <a href=\"events@embl.de\">events@embl.de<\/a> and collect your print-outs at the registration desk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Luggage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lockers available on-site to store your luggage, which require a 2 EURO coin to operate. What happened? How many injured?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emergency number 06221-387 7821 from mobile phones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please report all accidents to the conference officer at the registration desk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In case of fire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press the nearest fire alarm button or the Emergency number 222 from any internal phone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A loud fire alarm will go off if an evacuation is required. On hearing the alarm leave the building immediately following the escape route and fire wardens and head to one of the meeting points<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not use the lifts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beyond first aid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Heidelberg University Hospital or \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de\/\">Universit\u00e4tsklinikum<\/a>\u2018 has a 24 hour accident and emergency facility and is at &#8216;Im Neuenheimer Feld 672&#8217;. It is a 8km or a 20 minute taxi ride away from EMBL. In a medical emergency, the ambulance service generally transports patients to this hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please remember to bring your own medication, if needed, to the conference. Note that the next pharmacy is a 4-minute drive from the EMBL, but for many medications you will be required to see a doctor to get a prescription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure in advance that your medical insurance will cover you during your visit in the event that you do need to see a doctor while in Heidelberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EMBL course and conference office team are able to advise you on where to turn for emergency or non-emergency medical treatment in Heidelberg and can assist you in making appointments and \/ or arranging transport to get to the pharmacy or a doctor of your choice if necessary.
