However, recent advances in our ability to study organisms in the context of their natural environments have revealed that Jacques Monod\u2019s famous quote, \u2018What is true for E. coli is true for the elephant\u2019 does not do justice to the vast diversity of life on our planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will highlight research that challenges classical model organisms by looking at fluctuating, natural environments as a rich, relevant inspiration for new experiments in the lab and explore the challenges associated with the establishment of new model systems. This conference will showcase how exploring the wild frontiers of model systems is increasing our understanding of the biology, ecology, and evolution of organisms, ranging from microbes to plants and animals. We hope to bring together lab- and field-focused researchers from ecology, genomics, quantitative cell and molecular biology. Our aim is to debate the possibilities and limitations inherent to these disciplines and to develop unified approaches to gain comprehensive, mechanistic insights into the natural Recipients will be notified of their travel cap amount when they are informed of the outcome of their application. Original receipts must be provided with your signature for all costs incurred within two months of completion of travel. Scanned copies cannot be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Childcare grant<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is the possibility to apply for a childcare grant to offset child care costs incurred by participants, speakers, and organisers when attending a conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible costs include (but are not limited to) fees for a baby-sitter or child-care facility, and travel costs for a caregiver. Please note that priority will be given to early stage researchers. In order to apply for this grant, you must be registered by the abstract submission deadline. There is a limited amount of funding available for the childcare grants and funds will be distributed amongst eligible applicants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On-site participants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may apply for financial assistance when submitting your abstract.
