To commemorate this milestone, a series of videos &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebi.ac.uk\/about\/our-impact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In Focus<\/a> &#8211; were filmed, including one with our very own Cath Brooksbank, Head of Training at EMBL-EBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video, Cath discusses the role of technology in bioinformatics training from past to present and through to the future.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"In Focus: Bioinformatics training\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uVP0uSMx2o8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditionally bioinformatics training has been face-to-face, but EMBL-EBI also have a large online training offering through our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebi.ac.uk\/training\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Train Online<\/a> programme.&nbsp; Train Online can be remotely accessed around the globe, at anytime, allowing our training to reach a much larger global audience at a time that suits the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebi.ac.uk\/training\/online\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vf-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/course-and-conference-office\/wp-content\/uploads\/New-Look-ToL-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1394\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"vf-figure__caption\">Train Online is currently undergoing a makeover &#8211; check out the new look at <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/betaBix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bit.ly\/betaBix<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At EMBL-EBI we also want to breakdown the isolation faced by solo bioinformaticians in institutes, and bring them together with peers through our training offering &#8211; whether in person or online via collaborative tools such as Google Docs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And of course there will be times where face to face will not be possible. Whether due to ill health, parental leave or visa issues we understand that sometimes people cannot physically reach our on-site training courses.
