{"id":154251,"date":"2024-02-07T15:58:21","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T15:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/course-and-conference-office\/?p=154251"},"modified":"2024-05-07T14:35:02","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:35:02","slug":"explore-environmental-dna-for-assessing-biodiversity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/course-and-conference-office\/2024\/02\/explore-environmental-dna-for-assessing-biodiversity\/","title":{"rendered":"Explore environmental DNA for assessing biodiversity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn how to apply metabarcoding analysis to eDNA for assessing biodiversity with the <a href=\"https:\/\/neof.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NERC Environmental Omics Facility<\/a> (NEOF), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceh.ac.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ceh.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UK Centre for Ecology &amp; Hydrology<\/a> (UK-CEH), and EMBL&#8217;s European Bioinformatics Insitute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sequencing DNA barcodes from mixed sources of DNA is being increasingly used to survey biodiversity, whether analysing dietary content from faecal-derived DNA or monitoring aquatic species from water-derived DNA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new course will give an overview of metabarcoding with different barcoding genes to target particular taxa.
