{"id":5332,"date":"2021-08-03T13:53:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T13:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/alumni\/?page_id=5332"},"modified":"2023-05-08T14:23:29","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T14:23:29","slug":"embl-in-greece-2012","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/alumni\/embl-in-events\/embl-in-greece\/embl-in-greece-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"EMBL in&#8230; Greece 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"175\" height=\"120\" class=\"vf-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/dilofo2_s.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5336\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<p>EMBL alumni in Greece met for their 6th annual weekend meeting on 30th June &#8211; 1st July in Dilofo, Ioannina to exchange latest research, hear about EMBL infrastructure access projects such as P-CUBE and BioStruct-X from EMBL Joint Head of Structural and Computational Biology Unit Christoph M\u00fcller, and to discuss how to reinforce relations between life scientists in Greece and EMBL.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"175\" height=\"120\" class=\"vf-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/dilofo6_s.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5334\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<p>In considering &#8220;measurable&#8221; ways in which EMBL could contribute to the recovery and development of Greek science, participants suggested for EMBL to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organize scientific conferences or meetings in Greece, open to scientists working in Greek research institutes to facilitate collaborations between EMBL and the Greek scientists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participants taking part in EMBL Conferences and Courses to be eligible for travel grants (they already are).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide good access to the EMBL Core Facilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage short-term trainingships for young scientists to visit and work at EMBL for a limited amount of time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"vf-grid | vf-grid__col-3\"><div class=\"vf-grid__col--span-2\"><!--[vf\/content]-->\n<div class=\"vf-content\">\n\n<p>Through the Alumni Relations Office, EMBL will look into ways of organising an EMBL event in Greece, open also to scientists outside the alumni network.
