More than 70 UK-resident alumni and their networks were hosted at Cambridge University\u2019s Trinity Hall College by EMBL-EBI Directors Ewan Birney and Rolf Apweiler. On 12 June 2014, EMBL-EBI celebrated its 20th anniversary with a day of inspiring talks and fun activities on the Genome Campus. Held on the lawn behind Hinxton Hall, the event brought together staff and alumni to connect, look back on a remarkable two decades of growth and discovery and share ideas about the future of bioinformatics.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/article>\n\n\n

On 21 November, the EMBL Alumni Association (EAA) board held their 22nd meeting at EMBL-EBI, followed by a reception for staff and UK-resident EMBL alumni. Janet Thornton, EMBL-EBI Director, welcomed the 60 participants to the new South Building \u2013 which houses state-of-the-art training facilities and the ELIXIR Hub.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/article>\n\n\n

UK resident EMBL alumni gathered at The Punter, one of Cambridge’s cosiest pubs, for a relaxed evening of reconnection and networking. The mix included alumni established in academic and industry careers, from the University of Cambridge and Sanger Institute, to three now at GlaxoSmithKline (shown in photo).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/article>\n\n\n

\n \n 24 October 2007, Alumni Day at EMBL-EBI <\/a>\n <\/h3>\n

After the ceremony to mark the opening of the new site extension, the EBI hosted an on-campus symposium for all EMBL alumni and EBI staff. The event attracted 116 participants and was a great opportunity to meet friends and enjoy an excellent programme of talks by the EBI’s directors, scientific staff and alumni.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/article>\n\n\n
