Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport
When travelling from Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport to Grenoble, tickets can be bought from the Airport shuttle bus Lyon-Saint Exupéry–Grenoble counter [Satobus] inside the airport. A single ticket costs 20,00 Euro, a return ticket 30,00 Euro.

The bus leaves from the bus stand situated between Terminals 1 and 2, Level 1. On its approach to Grenoble, the bus leaves the motorway and turns up Avenue des Martyrs. If asked, the bus driver will stop at the roundabout just after the bridge Pont d'Oxford, which leads on to Avenue des Martyrs. This stop is within easy walking distance of the EMBL site.

In Grenoble, the Satobus leaves for the airport from the central bus station 'Gare Routière', which is next to Grenoble train station. However, its route takes it along Avenue des Martyrs, where it has an official stop at the city bus stop 'CENG', opposite the CENG main entrance [a 'Satobus' sign also indicates the stop]. If you wish to catch the shuttle bus from this stop to avoid going to the central bus station, you must make a sign to the driver, otherwise he will not stop! In this case, tickets can be bought directly from the driver.

For further information call Cars Faure, Lyon, Tel: +33 472 481616 or the Airport Lyon-Saint Exupéry, Tel: +33 472 227221.

There are now Easyjet daily round trip flights from Luton Airport [UK] and Ryanair round trip flights from London Stansted to Grenoble Saint Geoirs Airport.

Geneva Airport

Train
Take one of the trains from the airport to Geneva Central Station [Cornavin] and change there for a train to Grenoble.

Private Shuttle Bus
The 'Aéro-Express Genève' is a shuttle bus service, run by the company 'Transmanager'. The driver waits at the Airport Information Booth in the arrival hall, holding a sign 'Aéro-Express Genève'. In Grenoble, the bus stops at Place de Verdun and at the EMBL site. If there is only one passenger, the driver can agree to stop somewhere else.

Reservations have to be made 2 days in advance with Transmanager: Tel: +33 438 021333 or Fax: +33 438 020842.

Tickets must be purchased from the bus driver. The price of a one-way ticket is 43,00 Euro.

Public Bus
There is only one direct bus linking Geneva and Grenoble. It leaves 'Gare Routière' [Tel: +33 476 879031] at 15:00 and arrives in Geneva at 17:45. It costs 25,50 Euro one way.

Grenoble has motorway links with most major cities. You have to pay a toll on French motorways. In Switzerland you need a 'vignette', valid for a whole year [40 SFR, payable also in Euro or by credit card].

At Grenoble follow the signs for 'Gare Europole' or 'Polygone Scientifique' to reach the EMBL.
Travel by Train
Grenoble is accessible in 3 hours 20 minutes from Paris with the train TGV, which usually travels non-stop between two cities. From Geneva trains are slow; nearly 2 hours for 150 km and stopping frequently.

From the Grenoble train station, take the 34 city bus line, direction Polygone Scientifique. A one way ticket costs 2,00 Euro, the journey takes about 10 minutes [for details see Grenoble Public Transportation]. A taxi from Grenoble train station to the EMBL is about 7,00 Euro during the day and 8,00 Euro after 20:00. It takes about 10 minutes.
