Organisation
EMBL Hamburg [24 and 26 April] and International School Hamburg
[25 April]
Aims
The LearningLAB will enable you to discover the very fast developing field of Structural Biology at one of the leading European Structural Biology Research Institutes: the Hamburg European Molecular Biology Laboratory. EMBL Hamburg is located on the site of renowned DESY [German Synchrotron Research Centre].
The programme is designed to:
Illustrate why and how we study the structure of molecules; |
Give you the chance to work with top European Structural Biologists performing hands-on experiments on protein purification and crystallisation; |
Present sophisticated technologies that allow scientists to dissect crystal structure; |
Provide a special opportunity to get a closer look at the beamlines, which are used to study a remarkable range of materials from biomolecules to nanomagnets, from ancient Egyptian cosmetics to metallic foams; |
Introduce teaching kits that will allow you to perform crystallisation in the classroom. |
