ELLS' training courses for secondary school teachers, the LearningLABs, provide a privileged platform for the establishment of interactions between secondary teachers and scientists. To reinforce and sustain those links, the ELLS team and EMBL scientists bring on-going science to participant teachers' classrooms by giving talks, performing experimental activities, participating in special school events [school festivals, science days etc], taking part in round tables etc. ELLS is currently developing pilot projects involving regular interactions between EMBL scientists and particular school networks.

In addition to running the LearningLABs, ELLS plays an important role in the overall organisation of EMBL outreach initiatives, namely visits and open days. The ELLS team also attends several festivals and conferences, focusing on science education and/or communication, an essential way to network and to share know-how and materials.
