Synchrotron Radiation EMBL Hamburg
EMBL Hamburg offers facilities for experiments in structural biology using synchrotron radiation and wetlab facilities for protein production.

EMBL is currently operating seven synchrotron radiation beam lines at the DORIS storage ring from DESY. These beam lines are used for applications in bio-crystallography, small angle scattering and X-ray absorption spectroscopy of biological samples in solution (EXAFS). They are available to all research groups, and the access is prioritized on scientific grounds only. Project proposals for beam line access are evaluated by an International priorities committee.

EMBL Hamburg is also operating facilities for the production of biological samples, particularly for heterologous expression, protein purification, protein characterization and protein crystallization. Extended access is currently provided to about 20 external visitors annually.
