There are two railway stations at Frankfurt
Airport with routes to Heidelberg as follows:
The long distance trains leave from the Fernbahnhof
and are the faster but more expensive option. It
is usually necessary to change at Mannheim. Single
tickets cost around 22,00 Euro depending on the
class of train [ICE, IC or EC].
The regional trains leave from the Regionalbahnhof
and are cheaper but slower. You must usually change
at Frankfurt main station. One way tickets cost
between 14,00 and 20,00 Euro depending on the class
of train.
There are also several car rental companies
at the airport. Driving takes about an hour to
Heidelberg. When departing from the Airport parking
facilities or the terminal, follow the blue motorway
signs. From the airport, go initially toward Frankfurt
and then head south on motorway A5, direction
Basel and Karlsruhe. After approximately 30 km,
you will reach the intersection Darmstädter
Kreuz, where the motorway divides into A5 and
A67. You can take either of these; the A5 is the
more direct route.
Frankfurt Hahn Airport
Frankfurt Hahn airport is a small airport west of
Frankfurt International Airport. It offers cheap
air fares. There are Shuttle
Buses running to and from several cities. Travel
time from and to Heidelberg is approximately 2 hours.
Baden-Airpark – Airport Karlsruhe Baden-Baden
Baden-Airpark is a small airport near Baden-Baden,
about one hour south of Heidelberg. It offers cheap
air fares and can be easily reached by car, situated
close to motorway A5 [Basel-Karlsruhe]
More information
about how to reach it by rail or bus can be found at: www.badenairpark.de |
