January 2007
John Kendrew Young Scientist Award
 |
Sir John Kendrew |
 |
The EMBL Alumni Association is delighted to launch the John Kendrew Young Scientist Award in 2007. The award is open to young scientists who have been, within the past five years, members of the EMBL International PhD Programme or EMBL postdoctoral fellows, and are registered members of the Alumni Association. It is intended to recognise excellence in either scientific research or in science communication after leaving EMBL.
The award, which is named after the first Director General of EMBL, Sir John Kendrew, will consist of a cash prize of €1,000 plus a further €1,000 towards the cost of travel and accommodation, as the winner will be expected to present a lecture at EMBL Heidelberg or one of the outstations. The prize has been generously sponsored by the EMBL Pensioners' Association for an initial period of three years.
Please note that the application deadline for the John Kendrew Young Scientist Award is now closed. A decision on the winner will be made by the Alumni Board on Tuesday 23rd October 2007, and be published on this website and in the December EMBL newsletter thereafter.
Thanks to all those who applied. |
